Connect Taption to Cursor

Taption transcribes audio and video, with transcript text and SRT/VTT captions and subtitles available through MCP. Configure its MCP connection in the Cursor desktop editor to give Agent access to your transcript library. Retrieve a product review transcript, then ask Cursor Agent to identify the requested changes and clarify open questions alongside the code you are working on.

3. Add the configuration

Copy the configuration below into mcp.json. Save with Cmd+S on Mac or Ctrl+S on Windows, then follow Cursor’s sign-in prompt.

Already have servers in this file? Keep them and add only the taption entry inside mcpServers. Do not replace the existing configuration.

4. Allow access

Sign in to Taption. Check your email address, review the permissions, and select ALLOW ACCESS. You will return to Cursor.

Email and password users must verify their email first. Use a different account lets you switch accounts before approving.

5. Check the connection

Return to Customize → MCPs. Look for taption under Connected with 4 tools enabled. If sign-in is still needed, open the taption row and complete authentication.

Select taption to open Configure taption, where you can review and enable its individual tools.

6. Try a message

Open Cursor’s Agent panel and start a new conversation. Send the message below. If Cursor asks for permission, review and approve the list_transcripts tool.

Reading transcripts does not use transcription minutes. Starting a new transcription does.

Cursor should show your recent Taption transcripts, or tell you there are none yet.

Need help connecting?

Cannot find Customize? Search for Open Customize in the command palette, or check the official guide below. Your workspace administrator may need to allow custom MCP servers.

No connection? Check that mcp.json is saved with valid JSON and the full server URL. Open taption to finish sign-in or reload it. No transcripts? Check that you connected the right Taption account.
